NWW List Music For Download

I’ve been delving into the (in)famous Nurse With Wound list over the past few days. Included with NWW’s 1980 debut album, Chance Meeting on a Dissecting Table of a Sewing Machine and an Umbrella, and later expanded, the list comprises band members Steven Stapleton, John Fothergill and Heman Pathak’s favourite artists, 300 or so of them, from the immediately familiar - Can, Faust, Kraftwerk, &tc. - to the utterly obscure.

Over the past few months, William Berger of WFMU’s Beware Of The Blog has been exploring the list, providing potted biographies of various artists and groups, and illustrating his posts with MP3s: Adventures In The NWW List, Parts 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. And now a weblog, Insect & Individual, has popped up, offering full albums by artists on the list for download.

Get stuck in — there’s a hell of a lot of experimental, exciting and downright peculiar music there for the taking.
