Muscle Shoals for Sale

The Guardian reports that Muscle Shoals is up for sale on eBay.

Here is the auction.

I don’t know how many records I have that bear the legend Muscle Shoals, but it’s a hell of a lot. I remem­ber read­ing it on my Mom and Dad’s records when I was little, and won­der­ing at the mys­te­ri­ous name, unsure whether it was a person, group or place.

That is enough for me to know that this build­ing really ought to be pre­served as an Amer­i­can national trea­sure, if its days as a work­ing studio are over. Old, beau­ti­ful things like the Madonna of the Pinks easily raise a hul­la­bal­loo if they are about to be lost; but unnas­sum­ing stu­dios are cul­tural arti­facts too, and deserv­ing of the same respect.

So, who wants to chip in? $650, 000 looks like a bar­gain to me.
