Jack Straw
While looking for something else entirely in the Wikipedia, I came across an entry on Jack Straw, a leader, along with Wat Tyler, of the Peasants Revolt of 1381.
At the end of the entry is a little tidbit I didn’t know about the other Jack Straw, our former (draconian) Home Secretary:
The British politician John Whitaker Straw (born 1946) adopted the name Jack Straw after the rebel leader.
I don’t need to point out the irony, do I?
People like Jack Straw give a bad name to people who vote Labour. They got into power on a weak socialist manifesto and then continued to prove that they weren’t really socialist at all. Jack Straw is the man who tried to convince the UN that war against Iraq was correct and timely. If you see him on the street, give him an evil from me.

If by ‘an evil’ you mean a vivious slap to the chops, then I’ll be glad to oblige…
