Swearing In

Well said, and so it bloody well should be. I can’t quite believe that MPs, MSPs and AMs have to swear alle­giance to the monarch. Then again, I can’t quite believe we have a monarch. Why hasn’t anyone done any­thing about that?

  3. Some­one did do some­thing about it. They fought a war of inde­pen­dence and won, and they still don’t have a monarch. Britain is unusual in that it’s the only coun­try in his­tory to have had its rev­o­lu­tion overseas.

    The prob­lem with that bloody woman’s oath is that it isn’t to the people; it’s to the People. Beware politi­cians who cap­i­talise the word “people”.
