The Death of the CD? Hmmm…
Music industry figureheads predict the end of the CD (registration required), with all the misjudged reasoning you’d expect from an industry that has the RIAA as its mouthpiece.
You do wonder, though: do they think that if they shout loud enough about the death of the format, suddenly people will abandon it in droves, and move into a new, wonderful world of pre-paid music subscription, where YOU THE CONSUMER can decide what you want and when you want it? Or — here’s a thought — maybe they want everyone to buy everything again, at prices they control on technology you have no legal right to interfere with. Me, I’m cataloguing everything on wax cylinders from now on.
