Lazy Rental

Does anyone have any experience with Guardian Unlimited DVD rentals, aka MovieTrak?

One of my half-formed New Year’s resolutions was to watch more films. I’m always in the cinema, but hardly ever rent DVDs, because I’m lazy and always end up being stung by fees for returning the discs late.

With MovieTrak, you can rent a film conventionally, at £3.75 a pop, or subscribe to the service for £13.95 a month. This gets you unlimited rentals and - better yet - no due dates or late fees: you keep the films as long as you like, but no new films will be sent out until the last batch have been returned.

Sounds good doesn’t it? Unless anyone has any horror stories, I think I’ll sign up.

  1. I’ve used their subscription service for a couple of months now, and it’s generally quite good. The turn around time, from when they receive your returned DVD to when they send out the next one, seems to be a couple of days - a little dissapointing - I would have preferred same-day. And the web site can be quite difficult to browse, unless you have a fair idea what you’re after. But apart from that, it’s a very good service.
