Link Dump
NetNewsWire is, as everyone knows, a fantastic application, but it really comes into its own when you’re less connected than usual. While I was in France a minute or two on rickety dial-up gave me a few hours of reading and, because I was using the application offline, it genuinely was reading, rather than hasty scanning and arbitrary link-clicking.
Here, to make up for the posting hiatus, are some of the things I was reading, or reading about:
- Amazon’s new search tool.
- Friendster Slut
- Galileo’s Moment
- iBook G4s
- iCan
- The broken desktop metaphor.
- Graffiti star sneaks work into Tate
- When blogging gets big.
- The differences between Transitional and Strict XTHTML/a>
- The ALA redesign (it looks too much like a weblog for my liking)
- A planned, controlled community
- It would be shocking if the Chapmans made some work that wasn’t ‘shocking.’
- Microsoft removes Linux support from virtual PC 2004. Shock.
- That’s right, the women are smarter
- Warhol ‘copy’ row hits art world. Hee.
- Monolog
- Majority in favour of lowering voting age
- Galloway expelled from Labour
- Expletive deleted, Guardian
- Derrida was making it all up for a laugh. Honestly. (I have a good friend who refers to my belief in the rational as ‘subscribing to an alternate mythology.’)
- I have some t610 Daylight Saving woes to look forward to, apparently
And, finally, I suppose Panther deserves an unordered list of its very own, since I will be upgrading within ten seconds of the taxi dropping me at my door.
- Panther, Panther, Panther
- Text Shadow in Safari 1.1
- Proteron, LiteSwitch X and Apple
- The Exposé blob
- Panther Video
- Tom Coates shares his first thoughts on Panther, and invites us to share our tips and tricks
- Some Mac OS X 10.3 (“Panther!!!1!”) notes
- Longhorn hits the net (Shurely shome mistake - Ed.)

This is a test comment, please ignore…
-

i want it - should i buy it? or should i perhaps pinch it from somewhere*?
-
My official copy is in the postal backlog caused by striking posties, so I haven’t used the final version as yet - once it arrives, I’ll make you a backup copy for evaluation purposes…
-
ooh
ooh
oohevaluation purposes - of course, I’ll be writing that up for my writing course, innit?
-
if you have an alcatel speedtouch modem, panther will kill it.
-
oh dear, that sounds rough, Jack, have you not got one of them?
-
The long list of ‘If you have [whatever], Panther will kill it’ things is making me think I’d be holding off even if my copy had arrived… although I ran a developer preview for a while (7b21 or something), and that was fine with the modem.
-
sticks head in the sand and wants a shot of panther anyway
-
the above list is useful
