Pictorial Weblog

For those who like telephone photographs, my exciting new pictorial weblog is now available for perusal.

The archives are sparse just now, but all the photographs from the previous PhotoStack-powered incarnation will be added shortly, and I need to iron out a few creases, but it should all work as intended. If your face appears there, and you’d rather it didn’t, do let me know.

  1. i.want.a.new.phone.

out of curiosity, where was the wallpapered wall?

  2. It’s on Great Western Road, just opposite the garage at the end of Montague Street, on that funny little derelict garage/hut thingy…

The wallpaper is a Timorous Beasties design. Worth buying a house to have walls to paper with their stuff. Only you’d need a second mortgage: £100 a roll! They’re opening a shop there, by the looks of things

  3. smashing photos.

Jack, do you know anything about the graffiti of stencilled upright vacuum cleaners popping up hither and yon about town btw?

  4. Other than taking photos of all the ones I see… nope!

Glasgow does seem to have caught the stencil grafitto bug, though…

  5. speaking of which i seen one on the bus to work this morning…..a white hoover on a black shutter in a quiet side street in Edinburgh

is it not something to do with a new graphic design company from glasgow called ‘hoover’?…i might be wrong, but i remember seeing a very nice photo of an upright hoover sitting beside the clyde…

or maybe its corporate advertising whorage?…(is that a word)(ignore me)(ban my posts)

  6. The hoovers are everywhere! I’ve not seen a white one yet, though. I hope it’s not a viral marketing thing…

Do you have chewing-gum hearts on the pavements in Edinburgh. They are my fave, er, like, ahem, interventions in the built environment.

(More stencil business now available in the photos bit)

  11. Heh - like Samson, it is the source of my colossal strength!

And I regret calling them hippies now, as I emailed them, and the guy who replied is a gent.

They aren’t doing the graf hoovers, btw.

  14. hoover update (if anyone is interested, look i have a very boring job, okay*)-

“apparently it’s some kind of touring show (dj’s?), and they’re doing it
to promote whatever it is. not sure how effective it is as a
promotional device, as the big stencils don’t have the date/venue etc
    on
them. although i think i’ve seen small hoover stickers that had dates
on them. i guess if you’re in the know it all makes sense.

seen these so far in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh. I expect they’re
in lots of other places too”

  15. Interesting - I haven’t had a press release about anything clubby and hoover related (not counting scally hoovers ‘n’ horns type tops-off fagcore, which wouldn’t be hip enough for this sort of thing) - will ask around. Who said weblogs can’t do investigative journalism? ; )
