Everyone’s a winner, baby.

The LazyWeb is a good (and true) identification of a way in which the internet operates, and LazyWeb.org is a fine tool for furthering the LazySpread of ideas. I hadn’t realise quite how fine, until I saw this, wherein Guardian hack Ben Hammersly wishes aloud for a script to automate the export and upload of .Opml subscription files. And his wish is granted in the time it takes to say ‘social software ate by hamster.’

My automatically exported and uploaded .Opml file should be available for download from the ‘Syndicate’ menu to your right before too long.

Everyone’s a winner, baby.

Update: Except me. The script won’t run. And, I don’t have a clue how to fix it. Arse.

I get the following error:

2003-01-14 23:19:56.067 defaults[804]
The domain/default pair of (com.ranchero.NetNewsWire,
iAware-Script-Username) does not exist

Admittedly, this is the first Applescript I’ve ever opened in Script Editor, so I shouldn’t really expect anything to work.

  1. Hrm. Oops. I don’t know either. I know it worked for me, but I haven’t heard from Ben.

  2. Phil - I don’t know Applescript from a hole in the ground, so I’m guessing it was me rather than the script at fault…

  3. No, actually, it was my faulty AppleScripting. I’ll have a new version out reeeeeeeal soon - we had a small crisis here, but now my Mac is working again beautifully.

  4. I should mention, btw, that as far as I know this only works for NNW Pro Beta, because as far as I know Lite doesn’t support scripting or exporting OPML.
