The Move

Well, it looks like installing Moveable Type and importing from Blogger isn’t the daunting task I expected.

There are a few glitches: the site doesn’t validate yet, due to some mysterious extra tags generated by Moveable Type, and the Archives page is a mess, but those problems should be solved as soon as I RTFM, as they say.

Notes to remind me of things I need to do:

1. Import entries from the Blogspot incarntion of the site.
2. Make a master archive page which lists posts by category, by date and by author.
3. Import all Interviews as entries, and make an Interviews index page.
4. Sort out the sidebar - mainly switch the order of items around, also align top of first item with left colum reliably across browsers.
5. Ping something to test Trackback works okay

Despite throwing the W3C validator, the page scrubs up pretty nicely in the latest versions of Chimera, IE, Safari and Mozilla on the Mac. It remains to be seen what a PC will do, but since I’ve barely tampered with default MT Templates, all should be okay.
