Backwards Compatible

I only just got around to looking at this page in Netscape 4.7, what with all the distractions of a new iBook. Click on the thumbnail below to see how it looks in the most antiquated, and buggiest, of browsers. This is what I like about web standards: when writing the template for this page, I didn’t even have to think about workarounds, multiple versions for different browsers and what have you, but everything looks just about okay in anything from IE5.2 to NS4.7. On a Mac at least, I have no idea what the site looks like on a PC. Come to think of it, I did make one small concession to older browsers: avoiding setting the background of any divs to transparent, as this tends to create black boxes in Netscape 4.x, and older versions of IE. That said, support for background transparency is pretty patchy anyway…
