Polari Dictionary

i found a pretty good polari dic­tio­nary ear­lier; brows­ing through, was sur­prised to dis­cover that some of the words were iden­ti­cal to scots terms [i’ve looked for a good scots dic­tio­nary online, but there isn’t one; pre­dictably, those keen to pre­serve spoken scots aren’t exactly au fait with html]. no idea whether the common words devel­oped sep­a­rately and coin­ci­den­tally, or whether there’s a link, but polari’s such a man­gled con­glom­er­a­tion of so many dif­fer­ent lan­guages that i wouldn’t be sur­prised if there was a link. maybe jack would care to go on a polari research binge…
