What Should I Do With My iBook?

Now that I’ve got my new computer fully up and running, I’m wondering what I can do with the old one.

So far, it’s set up to:

  1. Work as a sort of Airport Extreme-equivalent, serving up my iTunes Library from an external drive.
  2. Run Azureus, which is slurping down telly programmes as they appear in various RSS feeds, or controlled manually with this handy Dashboard widget.
  3. Work as storage for automatic backups of important stuff on my new computer using rsyncx.

This is all rather boring and easy to achieve, but I can’t think of anything exciting and difficult to have a go at, which seems a waste of what is still a pretty powerful wee computer.

Any ideas?

  1. If you have outputs from your iBook to your TV then I’d have it placed beside your TV, slurping down TV torrents and then ready to play them on your TV when needed. Kind of a cheapo AppleTV!

  2. Good idea. To complicate matters, I have a PVR thing with a USB port, so I guess I could work out a way to automatically transfer downloaded telly onto that. I suspect automating conversion from .avi to the appropriate format for the PVR would be suitably exciting and difficult!

  3. Why not get your ariel fixed and then telly will just stream into your pvr like a stream of telly

  4. That would probably be a good option.
