The News Makes Us Sad
Over the past few days in Leeds, I have been praising Robin Cook and company, just about giving Clare Short the benefit of the doubt, despairing at the future of the UN, aghast at the scapegoating of France, loathing that traitor Tony Blair, blank with incomprehension at the latest news from Israel, deleriously shouting ‘Suckle at the war teet!’ at the telly every time the BBC or ITN showed me ‘our’ lads in the Gulf weaponry porn masquerading as reportage…
I was going to write up a rant about all these topics — and more! — but I signed up at Peaceblogs.org instead. Not because this will make more of a difference than preaching to a tiny audience of the converted on this site, but because it strikes me that arguments against the legitimacy of this conflict are moot until the war crimes trials start, and all we can do now is register our disaproval and keep as close an eye on events in the Middle East as the embedded (read bound and gagged) media will allow.
