Radical resignation
Andy Reed MP, parliamentary private secretary to Margaret Beckett, has resigned over the government’s apparent determination to go to war, UN backing or not; three others are threatening to follow suit.
It’s possible that this might be a one-off (though the fact that other PPSs have publicly stated their opinions on the matter suggests not), but even if that is the case, it’s still a serious blow to a party already looking ragged and inchoate.
I reckon we’ll see a fair few minor labour MPs handing in their notice in the next week, not to mention a full-scale backbench revolt when it comes to a vote on sending in the troops. I hope we see a few senior people resign, but I doubt it.
Mr. Tony doesn’t give a shit, though, does he? And It’ll at least be appropriate that he’ll have to rely on Tory votes to pass any motion to invade.

You’re probably right. Maybe all the Labour MPs will resign from the party, and then Tony can defect to the Tories, thus giving them a leader with a bit of charisma.

Well, he certainly isn’t representing the views of the public or the Labour Party…
