Hip Hop And You Don’t Stop
Sad to say, I’m not in Paris; I am, however, in the beautiful countryside, shamefully online, and not out walking through the hills or something equally healthy. I’d forgotten how green it is compared to Glasgow.
Anyway: here is a nice, if sketchily-designed, look at the nascent Hip Hop scene, some of it written by people who were there, complete with potted biographies of some early crews. Look out for Zulu Nation writing on Hip Hop’s “official birthday”, and a brilliant ramble on the history of old mixtapes (complete with tracklistings, all the better to satisfy your inner Hip Hop geek).
