Logos & Photos
Rem Koolhaus’ new logo for the EU is rather nice, no? It’s been widely dismissed as a hyperactive barcode and strikingly similar to an asda duvet design, but the national flags bleeding into each other certainly seems more apt, as well as nicer to look at, than twelve stars (apparently not related to the fact that the EU comprised 12 nations at the time of design, but because the number 12 represents wholeness and unity… er, right-oh)

If you happen to be in Edinburgh, nip into the National Portrait Gallery to see Facing the Light: The Photography of Hill and Adamson. They kind of invented photography in all it’s forms. In four years. Starting in 1873. Nice one lads. Seriously, it is a decidedly odd experience seeing this work in what was then an embryonic medium prefiguring pretty much everything that has been done with a camera since.
