William Morris
hope everyone likes the william morris background. not sure what he would have made of me stealing his art/craft.
here he is with edward burne-jones
the ever-handy marxists internet archive has a lot of morris’ texts online, and for more design-orientated stuff, try the william morris society. what a guy, musing on rossetti (but not rossetti, as far as i know) poems at breakfast, analysing marx after lunch, then knocking off a few textile designs before tea. whither socialist polymaths?
ooh, i feel an early british socialist thinkers/labour party history linkathon coming… i can’t believe i used to know loads about this stuff, and can now barely remember how to spell the name of lanarkshire’s finest, keir hardie [there must be a better biography out there than this one…]
as well as being rather dull, all that external style sheet palaver turns out to have been a total waste of time: if, as just happened, btinternet goes down, the blog ends up looking like it was designed in 1991. no more of this talk, until i start ftping this place to my own webspace and add a style switcher so people can choose between a jack layout and, if she/you can be bothered, a SH layout. having a wee bit of bother changing the script so it saves a cookie with style sheet preferences for everyone except me… god, sorry, i’ll shut up now.
