The only problem there is that I’d have to buy a modem cable, and be permenantly wired up to the phone line (I use Airport to connect to the internet at the moment)

You basically create a dial-up connection with your mobile phone number as the number to dial. Then just follow the usual ringing noise.

No need to bother with bluetooth!

Get a modem for your mac, and plug this into the phone line alongside the phone. Then make an internet connection (not default - you don’t want it to auto-connect), and put it on your desktop. when you want to find your phone, just open this, and your phone will ring. - should work for any computer who’s OS allows dial-up internet.

The great thing about this, is that you most likely have a modem in your computer, and ringing the phone is free, as long as your call isn’t answered by your voicemail.
