If Holinshed had copyrighted his chronicles, we wouldn’t have Macbeth, if Mark had copyrighted his Gospel, Mathew, Luke and John couldn’t have published their versions, if Campbells had kicked up a fuss about their cans, we wouldn’t have the Warhols, etc. etc.

You’re not wrong on the publicity front, though - who knew who Danger Mouse was pre-Grey? Not I.
