It has been used for medical purposes too, for instance, causing vibrations in the body to treat kidney stones. Another use has been to provoke emotions. Adolf Hitler had infrasound played at speeches to excite and enrage the crowds.

The male honks away to attract a mate using a very low frequency sound. Because of this the females cannot localize him, and so they find it a wee bit difficult to reproduce. There are only about 50 of them left
